Program
Gloria (RV 589) by Antonio Vivaldi
Choral movements accompanied by harpsichord and violins
Dear John by Julie Feeney
Choral arrangement by Feeney commissioned for Hudson Chorale
The performance will also feature interviews with the conductor and the violinist about Vivaldi and performing Baroque music and with Irish legend Julie Feeney. Feeney is a singer, composer and song-writer who has performed all over the world. Reviewing her show in New York City, The New York Times wrote, “…intricate, articulate…draws on sources across centuries…Ms. Feeney’s songs don’t shout. They tease, ponder, reminisce, philosophize and invent parables… [They are] songs that set character studies and philosophical musings in elaborate musical confections, often with long, internally rhymed lines… ”.
The chorale has been rehearsing virtually under the direction of new director David Baranowski since fall 2020. Although members miss the joy of singing in the same room together, it has been heartwarming to take up the challenge of continuing to sing together using a virtual platform called Jamulus that allows us to blend our voices.
