Join The Hudson Chorale &
Come Sing With Us
Alas for those that never sing, but die with all their music in them.
-Oliver Wendell Holmes
Few things in life are as satisfying as joining a group of talented, enthusiastic singers and making beautiful music together every week. Since 2010, the Hudson Chorale, Westchester’s largest chorus, has been performing in venues throughout the County, bringing the best in choral singing to the Hudson Valley. Our concerts have included traditional choral pieces such as the Brahms Requiem, lesser known works such as the Mass in D by John Knowles Paine, more contemporary works by composers such as Morten Lauridsen, Jaakko Mäntyjärvi, and Eric Whitacre.
This coming year (2024-2025), the chorus is planning two sets of concerts, one in January 2025 at Maryknoll in Ossining and one in June in Irvington. Our schedule and concert locations are planned as follows:
Winter – January 25-26, afternoon both days (times TBD) at the Chapel at Maryknoll in Ossining
Planned pieces include “Malhaar: A Requiem for Water” by Indian-American composer Reena Esmail, and “Carols and Lullabies” by Conrad Susa.
Spring – May 17-18, again both afternoon concerts to be held at Irvington Presbyterian Church in Irvington. Program to be announced.
As our numbers have grown, so have our audiences, and we now enjoy a county-wide reputation for outstanding programming and superb artistry.
Come join us! Singing has never been so much fun!
REHEARSALS
We rehearse together in person singing (masks now optional), while our Board continues to monitor the COVID situation and follow CDC guidance. We will continue to leverage virtual Zoom access for singers as needed during each rehearsal to ensure health and safety of all singers.
Mondays: 7:15-9:30 at Scarborough Presbyterian Church, 655 Scarborough Road, Briarcliff Manor.
Alternatively, via zoom, with virtual participation enabled for those under the weather or with out of town plans.

MEMBERSHIP
Membership in the Hudson Chorale is open to all singers in all voice parts.
Members come from Westchester and neighboring counties and represent a broad range of ages and vocations. All of us share a love of singing. While it is not necessary to have a professional level of musicianship to participate, some prior music training or experience is helpful in enabling each singer to master the music and have a positive experience.
Auditions: Singer-friendly auditions for new members are held at the beginning of each concert season (contact Jeannewygant@optonline.net). Current members in each voice part are re-auditioned every three years.
Rehearsals: We begin our virtual rehearsals every Monday evening (members typically attend one day a week) at 7:15 pm and end at 9:30 pm. Additional rehearsals at concert times will be announced in advance.
Dues: $150 per trimester with music purchases as incremental fees as needed. Members support the activities of the Hudson Chorale by selling tickets, selling ads in the concert programs, and participating in the Chorale’s various fund-raising activities.
Volunteering: Many of us also volunteer to help with such activities as concert coordination, publicity, hospitality, and Board leadership. This support is not only helpful to the group, it is also a wonderful way to get to know other members of the Chorale. Come join us! Inquire by emailing current Board President, Mark Monroe.
