About Hudson Chorale
The 60-voice Hudson Chorale, under the artistic direction of Music Director David Baranowski, is a collegial ensemble of men and women dedicated to the joy of music-making. Some of our singers have had extensive musical training, others less, but all our members have in common their passion for performing outstanding choral music at an exceptionally high standard. We range in age from college students to retirees, come from varied backgrounds, work in different fields, and come together from all over Westchester and surrounding areas. Sing with us! Repertoire
Our repertoire includes a wide range of choral literature, from early music to contemporary pieces, from well-known choral masterpieces to more unique works, including newly-commissioned compositions. The size of our chorus, the disciplined musicianship of our members, and the eclectic nature of our repertoire enable us to perform a broad range of music successfully, and to bring to every audience a rich musical experience. The chorus prepares at least two concert programs a year. Each program is typically performed twice. Details of each event are made available on our Events page.
History
In July 2010 the Choral Arts Society (founded in 1937 as the Ossining Music Guild) and the Westchester Concert Singers (founded in 1955 as the Pleasantville Cantata Singers) merged into the Hudson Chorale. For many decades both of these ensembles enjoyed reputations throughout the Hudson Valley for their beautiful interpretations of choral works of all periods and for their high standards of professionalism. The merger of the two choruses marked not only the birth of a powerful new choral ensemble, but an exciting moment in Westchester for both choral musicians and their audiences.
